A Chance Meeting
At Just The Right Time...
Hi folks!
On Thursday I was in Bristol doing some Christmas shopping, when I bumped into a viewer (Hi Debbie!) Chris had a few days’ holiday to use up before the end of the year, and as tiny air bnbs seem to be ridiculously expensive for off season, we decided to sleep at home, but go on some day trips over a few days. (We saw the weather forecast for today and wisely chose to have a rest day!) We started with a few hours in Bristol to kick-start our present-buying.
Now, I’m getting side-tracked for a second, but hear me out as this will link up!...I’ve started to think about what my Word of the Year might be for 2026. One contender is ‘Confidence’. Mainly because I lack it. So the theory is, Fake it till you Make it!
You might not have noticed, but my regular weekly Tuesday upload on YouTube has just recently gone awol and that is partly because I lost confidence in my channel. I’ve got some ideas to shake it up a bit; and I filmed the video announcing these changes a few weeks ago...and then... I got stuck! The doubts crept in: Who is really interested anyway? Why would anyone want to watch me? The arrow on my stats is always pointing downwards, so what’s the point?
And honestly, I’m feeling a bit stressed at the moment too. It’s so easy to fall behind if I can’t manage the daily editing time; and Christmas, along with what would have been my Dad’s birthday is coming up, which I’m finding emotionally difficult. (Sorry - not the most cheery email in the world is it?!)
But then I heard a stranger call my name at the Bristol Christmas market and she was kind enough to stop and tell me how she enjoys my YouTube videos. It was just the boost I needed and I appreciated it a lot. That evening I sat down to organise my notes and created a script for an upcoming video. (Yes - a script! - that’s different isn’t it?!) So videos will return soon, but honestly, I might give myself a break and not be back till the new year; I’ll play it by ear and see how it goes.
So really this letter is a thank you for being here and reading this, and if you do watch my YouTube videos, thank you for your patience.
ALSO! (shifting gear and changing the subject) There is only one week left of my half price sale on original art. Maybe you’d like to treat yourself to a Christmas present?

Take care.
Helen

It was really lovely to meet you Helen! I was so excited when I spotted you and had to come and say hi and how much I enjoy your YouTube channel. You too have given me confidence with my art - I’m just a hobbyist but still get doubts about what I’m doing and your down to earth approach has helped and inspired me to pick up my brushes and pencils again. I also love hearing all your news about the house, the family and your days out. It’s like chatting with a friend x
I love your emails as well the art and all your travel. It is like I am going on a vacation. Thank you.
